Hi There! My name is Ellie and I am the owner of Ellie's Melodies. I love to perform, share my music and use it connect with my community. I started this business as I was planning my own wedding last year, realizing that musicians can be expensive to hire. I am here to share my love of music and make your vision for your event come true, whether it's for a wedding or special event!
I began learning violin at the age of 10 and I haven't put it down since. I am a graduate from the University of British Columbia, and hold a Bachelor of Music Degree, Bachelor of Education and a Diploma in Conducting. I have a passion for performing and teaching students and musicians of all ages. I am currently the principal violist of the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra. I also regularly perform with the West Coast Symphony, West Van Youth Strings, and many other local groups. I am also the recipient of the 2011, 2012 and 2013 Mildred Johnston Music Award, 2008-2009 Peter Rohloff Memorial Award, and the 2004-2008 recipient of the Killarney Performing Arts Excellence Award. In addition to performing in orchestra, I am an avid chamber musician and soloist. I am an alumni member of the West Coast Amateur Musician’s Society, the Cecelia Women’s Chorus, Capilano Festival Chorus in addition to being the founding member of the A Major Conspiracy String Quartet. I currently hold the position as the String Orchestra Director for the North Vancouver School District.
